Invitation to the greatest party ever!

I was at home the other day….waiting for the Yankees to lose…again. The moment they were mathematically eliminated there was a force beyond my control that urged me to go to the mailbox. Not understanding anything….I followed. I reached into the mailbox and saw a large manila envelope addressed to
Kory Carling

Author and creator of My Idaho Paradise blog
(my address of course, which I have omitted due to security reasons)

With giddiness that only I can show, I carefully unwrapped the envelope, being careful not to tear anything just in case I wanted to use the manila envelope for my scrapbook or something later. What I found inside astonished me beyond anything I had ever seen. An invitation unlike any other. It read as follows:

Dearest Kory,

I have appreciated all of the kindness that you have shown to me and my associates during this past year. In thanks, I am having a celebration. A celebration that has been reserved for a select few. You Kory, are one of those few. Many people know of the struggles I had as manager of the Yankees this year, and without the help from several prominent figures in the sports world, I wouldn’t have made it through. So, I am saying thank you to all of my most loyal….and favorite fans. Please join us for a celebration of life, love, and friendship.
Sincerely,

Joe Girardi

P.S.
Prominent invitees of this celebration include
Mike Kryzewski
Lance Bass
Clay Aiken
Ellen
Derek Jeter
Jim Leyritz
Lindsey Lohan

We hope that your presence will be felt at this monumental event, and a gift bag will be given as a token of our appreciation for your unwavering love for those of us with alternative lifestyles in sports.

NOTE: It also contained the address, date, and time for the party, but if you think I am sharing it with you haters, get lost.

You can believe that I am going to this party, and you everyone is jealous. Deal with it.

So I in my favorite store the other day…when I heard someone talking. Not a big deal, I assumed he was talking to his friend or wife there at the store with him. Then I looked over and he was all alone. He must have been talking to air. I then realized what was going on. He was a “blue-toother”. Jealousy coursed through my veins…I felt like Edward when he first saw and smelled Bella. At that moment I knew I had to have a blue tooth. No matter the cost, no matter the circumstance, no matter the repercussions of my reputation….I have already sacrificed my reputation of being cool long ago. I needed a blue tooth, and I needed a clip on my belt to hold my blackberry pearl.
I took action. I called my little bro who works for an undisclosed cell phone service kiosk . I explained my dilemma. He tried to curb my enthusiasm for such a girly pair of accessories, but there was no stopping me. I was determined. I selected a purple belt clip to match my personality, and I chose a diamond studded blue tooth earpiece that is all the fab right now. I am good to go.

The belt clip that I have requested will fit perfectly with the fanny pack that I am modeling above. Yes I am cool. I have also included a picture of a dude at lunch with his Bluetooth…which will be, because I am never taking it off. Never. I will sleep, eat, shower, rollerblade, and run with this bad boy in my ear…. and yes...this dude is awesome.

Seeking Power Walking/Rollerblading Partner(s)...

As you can see by the picture of me (and my sweet track suit) I am a 28 year old Male, and I do power walking (beginner/intermediate) and want to find a partner to do it with on regular basis or we can form a power walking group which starts around our cozy little neighborhood. You know the time goes by faster together and if you don't care that people stare at your funny walking :-)) I am sure there are women (or men) that want to do it,but feel slightly intimidated to do it themselves so if you are interested give me a shout and we can team up. I have .5, 1, and 1.5 pound barbells to carry.

I am also seeking someone to Rollerblade with me. I am pretty intense when I blade and I would definitely classify myself as an expert. (See image of me below). If you are looking to push your fitness boundaries, let me know and we can blade it up here in my Idaho paradise.

Ode to Joy

Here is another one of my favorite pastimes....embroidery. I whipped this bad boy up in a week or so. I disregarded my duties as husband and father...even though I have a pregnant wife. I got this image in my mind and BOOM! Rainbow unicorn. I am going to put this on either my levi jacket, or my church bag...(which happens to be levi as well). As of now, it is on my pillowcase.

I am willing to take requests, but I am especially good at things I love, such as puppies, kitties, unicorns and rainbows, cute and cuddly animals, and flowers. Thanks to my family who supports me in my embroidery.

I have been really liking these top ten lists....and while my wife keeps posting about our unborn son, I have been thinking about all of the activities that we will do together, you know father-son stuff. My hobby is taking over!

I just had to write quickly today and tell you about the flowers that I have been growing in my spare time. In case you don't know...I am a hydroponic flower freak! I have a makeshift greenhouse in our backyard and I love to grow pretty flowers and make beautiful crafts and gifts with them. Look at these orchids that I am growing...aren't they lovely?

I also grew some daisy's last year, and I thought I would show you what I made with them. Just look at this adorable gerber daisy wreath that I made. It is absolutely darling don't you think?

So, if any of you want to make some cute flower crafts, or come and get some for your wives or husbands, come on over. I would love to help!

A Birthday Tribute to Awesome

Even though it was my wife’s birthday yesterday and she is the one responsible for starting our family blog, and brining the spirit of blogs and all the joys and happiness associated therein to our home…I will not pay tribute to her on this blog. Instead, I would like to pay tribute to a person who is so instrumental helping me develop what little Awesome I have in my bones. I will give a brief history of this individual and his attempt to revitalize my awesomeness.
I realize that since I left the influence of the clique back in 1999, my Awesome has been dwindling. I got married and moved to my Idaho paradise, and without the clique and its members to recharge my Awesome, I have slowly become unawesome. I stopped calling them, I stopped thinking awesome thoughts, I stopped listening to awesome music, I stopped doing awesome things, basically I stopped being awesome.

About a year ago (July 2007 to be exact) my wife intervened and said “Kory, your awesome has totally deserted you. You need to go to rehab, call Tikes and J-Rod….NOW!” So I did. I called up Tikes out of the blue and pleaded for some Awesome. I said “Tikes, I realize I am not worthy of the clique right now, and I have been a terrible friend, but can we hang out”? Tikes (being a member of Team Awesome, the Clique, and various other Awesome organizations said….”sure, but you are basically a girl now”. I replied, “Yes, I know, and I will wear pink until you tell me it is okay not to”. So, we scheduled a golf outing at Spanish Oaks….were Tikes and J-Rod absolutely crushed me in golf. I played like your grandma does. Tikes and J-Rod beat me by about 12 strokes each, but I deserved it as I was petrified after they made me tee off from the red tees. (That is where the ladies play).
I was feeling a little more awesome, but not enough to go back home and answer to the wife. I pleaded for some more Awesome influence and Tikes again was so generous and understanding. He invited me to play in the Lamb Days softball tournament in Fountain Green. Totally Awesome. I told them I would have to ask my wife. When I approached Ali with this good news she said….”If you don’t go, I will divorce you because I don’t want to be married to a woman”. So I called Tikes and he let me play on his softball team. Tikes hit like 10 home runs and drove in like 500 runs, made so many great defensive plays…there is not enough time to list all of the great things that he did for our team….he was so good. I think I got a hit or two, maybe caught a grounder or something…I don’t remember. What I do remember is the feeling of Awesome that was starting to come back. Two weekends in a row with Tikes and it was starting to pay off. I was feeling Awesome again.

Tikes demonstrated how Awesome he was by telling us how he had gone home Friday night (the day it came out) and purchased the 7th installment of Harry Potter, and had sacrificed his entire night by reading. He only slept like 1 hour! He was nearly finished with The Deathly Hallows. I was so jealous. I vowed to be more like him, but then I went home. I slowly fell into the same unawesome habits that I had fallen into before. I didn’t call the Clique, I stopped being awesome. I then did the unthinkable. I shunned blogging. I said things like “blogging is for girls”, and “blogging is gay”. I even uttered totally femmy statements like “I don’t need Tikes….his Awesome is overrated”. Tikes still did not give up on me. He called about a month ago and invited me to go golfing again with the Clique…(he must have known my Awesome had worn out) but I was too much of a girl to accept, so I wussed out.

Flash forward to today….June 5th (technically I stared this on the 4th…but you know what I mean). I would like to pay tribute to the most Awesome person in the entire world; Tikes. Yes, the one and only author of Tikes Bikes, the highest rated blog in all blogdom. JD Power and Associated rated his blog Awesome. His credentials are available to view on www.tikesbikes.blogspot.com , He is also a founding father of both the Clique and Team Awesome. If it weren’t for Tikes, I would be wearing dresses and makeup. I am almost there anyway, but Tikes has rubbed just enough of his awesome on me over the past few years to keep my testosterone levels just high enough to be legally considered a male. Tikes has even help me seen the light in the past few weeks and I have started a blog. I am so thankful to him and his constant helping hand. I don’t know what I would do without him. So…..happy birthday Tikes. I hope that you realize how much of an influence you have had in my life. Thank you for being so Awesome.

Kory

By the way….I just love puppies right now. Another symptom of unawesomeness.

Here I am...

Mostly due to peer pressure, and the immense feeling of guilt. I am now a blogger. My wife's shoulders were just starting to droop due to the weight of my lifeless and blogless corps that she was carrying. I have said in the past that I am too cool to blog, but that was just a front. I realize that I am not cool at all, and that blogging is the defenition of cool. I will therefore welcome all types of ridicule, as it is my destiny to receive. I have chosen a pink background becuase it fits my personality and only after I have proven myself to other bloggers, and have been sufficiently 'hazed' by Team Awesome, will I change it to a more manly color.

So please haze me until I turn into a man.
